| NETHERFRIENDS "CALLING YOU OUT" EP AND SINKANE "SINKANE" VINYL OUT TODAY! 07.21.09 |
Today we are pleased to announce two new releases available today. The first is the "Calling You Out" EP from Chicago, Illinois band Netherfriends. This is their first Emergency Umbrella release and it doesn't take long to catch on to this EP. Chicago transplant Shawn Rosenblatt weaves vocal harmonies and intricate instrumental melodies through a variety of percussion and field recordings. Its out now in both compact disc and digital format! The second release Sinkane's "Sinkane" on vinyl. Sinkane's chief architect, Ahmed Gallab, expands on the critically acclaimed groundwork he created with "Color Voice" for his sophomore effort "Sinkane". Already available in CD and digital formats, we are excited to present this release and all of its sonic glory in vinyl! Both of these releases are available in our online shop and at your local record stores. If that news wasn't enough to keep you busy, we present you with a gift. It's our 2009 Digital Sampler! Over the years we have had the pleasure of introducing music from some of the best-up-and-coming artists. When we started out as a collective in 2000, we released a sampler of our artists and introduced our home community of Columbia, MO to a roster of new and young artists. After several years and several releases later, we thought it was high time we re-introduce our roster to our new expanded community. It's been a while since we've posted any news. That doesn't mean we have been sitting dormant the last 5 month's. Quite the contrary actually. Since our last release, Gentleman Auction House's Christmas In Love, we have signed 2 wonderful bands, which we'll talk about in a second, and have a new self-titled record from Sinkane that drops today, May 5, 2009. So we mentioned we signed 2 new bands. Well who are these 2 bands you ask? Well they are Netherfriends from Chicago, IL and Dark Meat from Athens, GA. Both of these bands will be releasing EPs this summer. The first will be Netherfriends Calling You Out on July 21. This will be in both a CD and Digital format. The next is Dark Meat's When The Shelter Came on August 4. This will be released as a 7" and Digitally. Here is a sneak peak at the artwork for both releases...

Christmas is right around the corner and to help spread the holiday cheer Gentleman Auction House's third release of 2008, Christmas In Love, hits stores today. There are six tracks on this EP, of which only one is a traditional holiday classic. Be sure to check out Gentleman Auction House on their final tour of the year where you can purchase the tour only limited edition hand wraped/numbered Christmas In Love CD. By now you know that Ahmed Galleb is a full time touring member with Of Montreal. Now Ahmed will get to bring his project, Sinkane, from behind the kit for four shows starting Friday Oct. 24 in St. Louis, MO. Sinkane will perform a set consisting of songs from his debut full length Color Voice, along with some newer material. Be sure to get their early for these amazing live sets! New EU family member Drew Danburry is set to release his fourth full length record, "This Could Mean Trouble, You Don't Speak for the Club," November 4. Drew has cultivated a huge underground following from touring tirelessly from coast to coast, and after getting your hands on his latest release you will understand why. This Could Mean Trouble... is an album that is arresting in its lo-fi deconstructive nature. Drew's new album breaks down the pop formula and weaves sections of song into a tapestry of intimate story lines that take the listener from their headphones to the various rooms, porches, and sidewalks he recorded from. Truly a master of his environment, Drew's album needs to be listened to from beginning to end with no pauses in between. Ahmed Galleb of Sinkane has been busy to say the least. After filling in at the percussion position for Caribou, Ahmed has found himself in another role as second percussionist for Of Montreal. Living in Athens, GA for the past month, Ahmed has been working diligently on working up the very intensive percussion arrangements for the new songs on Skeletal Lamping as well as the Of Montreal back catalog. In addition, he has been working up a Sinkane opening set that will grace the stage in four cities and feature members of Of Montreal. Did we mention he has already recorded up his follow up record to this year's "Color Voice" (EU023). Busy? That's an understatement. Catch Ahmed with Of Montreal starting Tuesday Oct. 7!

After releasing 2006's critically acclaimed "Prompts/Miscues" and 2007's "Fallout Stations EP", The Foundry Field Recordings have gone through quite a bit of changes. Lead songsmith Billy Schuh leads a new roster of musicians both in the studio and on the road. After finishing up some brief opening appearances for Dr. Dog, Oxford Collapse, Love as Laughter, Black Mountain, Titus Andronicus, Pattern as Movement, and The Hood Internet over the summer and fall, FFR has been buried deep in the bunker of their studio. As Gentleman Auction House preps for the August 19th release of their debut full length "Alphabet Graveyard," they will be making a short midwest by south run to D-Fest in Tulsa, OK. If you don't have a chance to catch the St. Louis-based pop septet on this short jaunt, you can check out their new Daytrotter session, which features four live tracks from their upcoming release here.

AHMED GALLAB OF SINKANE (AND SINKANE) TO TOUR WITH OF MONTREAL 07.11.08 |
The rumors are true! As you may recall, Ahmed Gallab, the mastermind behind the band Sinkane was asked to fill in on drums for Caribou on their most recent tours. Well, he is back at it again, but this time it is with the famed Of Montreal. The tour starts in Europe in August with a short stateside return in early October followed by another stint in Europe with more US dates starting October 24 in St. Louis, MO. Not only will Ahmed be keeping time for Kevin Barnes and company, Sinkane will be the opening act for a handful of shows as well. So far only 3 dates have been confirmed (St. Louis 10/24, Milwaukee 10/25, and Chicago 10/26), but keep checking because more should pop up soon. All of this comes to no suprise, because of Ahmed's amazing talent which is shown on his May release, "Color Voice." A complete list of tour dates are listed below. Of Montreal Tour Dates: |

The good word continues to roll into the offices regarding our next two releases. Sinkane has been featured on Pitchfork's Forkcast, check out the mp3 stream of Autobahn. Yesterday Ahmed Gallab stepped into the KEXP studios for the first time holding down the percussion duties for Caribou's on-air set. The North American swing wraps up on May 3.
As things begin to swell for Sinkane, we also receive news that Gentleman Auction House will be featured on Daytrotter on Tuesday April 29. As the blogosphere begins to warm for GAH, they will begin a two-week long stint through the northern part of the midwest starting this week.

As Ahmed Gallab makes his way across North America as percussionist for Caribou, we are happy to keep the Sinkane fire warm as we prepare for his first full-length release Color Voice. Though the release date is less than a month away, Sinkane is already receiving high praise for the four-song, 35-minute album, and that support will continue to build for the May 6th release date. You can pre-order your limited edition vinyl at Insound.com. We pressed and dressed 1000 limited edition vinyl copies. 500 in a 180-gram White vinyl and 500 in Picture-disc format. Individually numbered, these copies are a one-time only pressing, so once they are gone, they are gone. Of course we also have them in CD and Download format.

As we prepare for our Spring/Summer releases, we get word from the Sinkane camp that Ahmed Gallab has been recruited to play drums for Caribou and the remainder of their North American tour dates with Fuck Buttons. Sinkane will be performing their April 9th show in Columbus, OH at Wexner Center. We will update the rescheduled dates for Sinkane soon. Caribou Tour Dates |

After a busy week in Austin, the Gentleman Auction House septet are quietly building the momentum for their May and June releases. The group recently added Bojan Jovanovic from Noise Problem Booking to their family. Noise Problem has a very exciting roster of bands including: Bound Stems, The Valley Arena, Six Parts Seven, and Let's Go Sailing. Additionally Bojan is a top-shelf fella. GAH has shows mapped out for the remainder of March through May. Look for a North American tour spanning June and July.
